Coding for OB/GYN in 2017

Presented by: Karen Scott, MEd, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, FAHIMA

This session will review both new and existing coding processes, rules, and regulations relating to pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium, as well as diseases, conditions, and disorders of the female reproductive system. The session will cover high risk coding and outside of global issues. In the new patient care models, the requirements to “tell the whole story” with appropriately reporting risk factors through patient co-morbidities is an essential part of relating value with the appropriate level of care for the patient’s condition. A few topics to be addressed:

  • Complicated reporting and coding well-woman visits due to surgical loss
  • Coding a preventive care visit with problem visit on the same day
  • Coding an E/M visit with a procedure on the same day

Join us to prepare for reporting value through proper coding requirements. Bring your CPT-4 and ICD-10-CM manuals to class for exercises.
