CANCELLED Medicare Beneficiary Wellness Programs
IPPE & AWV for Providers
Presented by: Karen Scott, MEd, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, FAHIMA
As healthcare spending steadily increases, the effort to control cost is shifting the practice of medicine from treatment of illness toward preventive care to promote wellness. Medicare introduced the IPPE (Welcome to Medicare) and AWV (Annual Wellness Visit) to support wellness efforts with improved reimbursement and to take the lead in the movement toward reimbursement for managing the total care of a patient rather than just payment for services. Karen will address:
· Who is eligible to provide the services?
· When do you do the IPPE, the Initial AWV, and the Subsequent AWV?
· What services are provided in the IPPE and AWV and how are they different?
· What other preventive services may be included and billed for in the scope of these visits?
· How do you properly document these services?
· How do you document an AWV and a problem (E&M) service for the same visit?
This seminar is designed for providers. A staff member may accompany their provider.
Date: Tuesday, January 16, 2018
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: MetroCare Education Room
1661 International Place, Suite #200
Light refreshments will be served.
