Cigna Announces Policy for 2027 Maternity Coding click here for details
Pending the CMS final rule, beginning January 1, 2027:
If CMS finalizes the proposed new G codes, Cigna plans to continue the current practice of global billing/reimbursemt WITH the addition of these 15 new codes on Jan 1
If the G codes are not approved, Cigna will no longer use the global codes beginning January 1, and plans to adopt the AMA coding/reimbursement frameworlk using E&M codes for prenatal and postpartum with new codes for labor management and delivery codes.
Pregnancies that span both 2026 and 2027, Cigna will issue transition guidance after the final rule is published.
