Overview: Medical practice staff should be aware of business risks (fraud, waste and abuse) that place the practice and/or its physicians and employees at risk for non-compliance with government regulations, business contracts and other binding requirements. This session focuses on explaining the laws related to fraud that staff should be aware of to avoid costly fines and potential imprisonment. For each risk area, options will be given as to how the staff can participate in compliance activities.

Objectives:

• Introduce the OIG and its mission
• Review the laws related to fraud, waste, and abuse
• Demonstrate the importance of staff participation in compliance actions
