Rescheduled: Coding ENT and Plastic Surgery In 2023

This class will review coding processes, rules, and regulations related to Otolaryngology and some common plastic surgery procedures.  Along with chapter specific terminology and anatomy, Karen will address coding conventions with special attention to sequencing guidelines and rules. Frequently used diagnoses for disorders, diseases, and conditions of Otolaryngology will be reviewed.

Practice coding exercises will be an important section of the class and will assist in reinforcing the material covered.   Please bring your CPT4 and ICD-10-CM manual to class for participation in the exercises.

  Coding The Musculoskeletal System 2023

This class will review the coding processes, rules, sequencing guidelines, and regulations relating to the musculoskeletal system.   Fracture codes as well as codes for disorders, anomalies, conditions and injuries will be covered. 

Join us to ensure documentation and coding pieces come together to appropriately relate the service rendered and report performance.

A few topics to be discussed are:

  • Coding external causes
  • Coding treatment after a prior surgical loss
  • Bundled payments
  • Coding E/M and procedures on the same day
  • Fractures: delayed healing, nonunion, malunion, sequela

Coding External Causes: Injuries, Adverse Effects, Poisonings, & Other Consequences

This program will cover chapter specific coding conventions and sequencing guidelines and rules relating to injuries, poisonings and other external causes.    

Additional emphasis on coding the highest level of specificity will be covered to aid in reporting medical necessity. 

A few areas covered include coding:

  • Contusions, open wounds, lacerations
  • Traumatic injuries including burns
  • Insect bites, abrasions, foreign bodies, superficial injuries
  • Poisonings and toxic effects of substances
  • Procedural complications

Please bring your ICD-10-CM manual to class for participation in the exercises. This class is open only to participating MetroCare physician members and their staff.
