Reviewing Compliance Plans 2025 Presented by:Karen Scott, MEd, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, FAHIMA
With audits increasing it is time to review and address coding compliance issues.Nothing is more important than the required Practice Compliance Plan to deter fraud, waste, and abuse in Federal programs.
This session will review the components of the OIG Compliance format as well as cover the process of the development of a practice plan.
The topics to be included:Seven Basic Elements Reviewing Practice Compliance Areas of risk • Importance of a written compliance manual • Fraud and Abuse definitions with examples • Training requirements for staff • Writing practice policies and procedures

CODING EXTERNAL CAUSES: INJURIES, ADVERSE EFFECTS, POISONINGS, & OTHER CONSEQUENCES IN 2025 Presented by: Karen Scott, MEd, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, FAHIMA
*** This is the same coding year as the program that was done back in NOV. If you did it then, the certificate is the same. Please contact me if you need to confirm previous participation***
This important and often overlooked area of coding will be addressed through chapter specific coding conventions and sequencing guidelines and rules relating to injuries, poisonings and other external causes.
Additional emphasis on coding the highest level of specificity will be covered to aid in reporting medical necessity. A few areas covered include coding: • Contusions, open wounds, lacerations • Traumatic injuries including burns • Insect bites, abrasions, foreign bodies, superficial injuries • Poisonings and toxic effects of substances • Procedural complications Please bring your ICD-10-CM manual to class for participation in the exercises. This class is open only to participating MetroCare physician members and their staff.
