The CMS Fee Schedule has been regularly introducing new codes to reimburse for screening as well as for coordination of services to address the Social Drivers/Determinants of Health. Commercial payers are also beginning to acknowledge that regardless of proper medical attention and prescribed treatment, circumstances in a patient’s life outside the control of the physician and the patient heavily influence a patient’s health and well-being. And evaluating your patient for these issues can affect E&M level selection.
