CODING CONDITIONS OF THE EYE IN 2026 Presented by: Karen Scott, MEd, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, FAHIMA

This class will review coding processes, rules, and regulations related to conditions of the eye, along with chapter specific terminology with anatomy of body systems and will include coding conventions with special attention to sequencing guidelines and rules. Frequently used diagnoses for disorders, diseases, and conditions of Ophthalmology will be reviewed.

Practice coding exercises will be an important section of the class and will assist in reinforcing the material covered.   Please have your CPT4 and ICD-10-CM manual for participation in the exercises.

Physicians: We want to help you continue to be paid appropriately for all of the work that you do to provide the best care for your patients. New tactics are being used by payers to lower the E&M levels that you report and pay at that lower level. AI sisstance makes combing through medical records so much easier to deny for documentation.

Karen will review in detail and lead a discussion around what constitutes E&M levels 4 and 5 and how you can best document to protect your claims coding based on medical decision making. Time documentation will also be discussed.
